London: Luxury British accessories brand, Smythson, invited guests to its New Bond Street store on Wednesday evening (27th April) to view a joyous exhibition by fashion photographer, Alistair Guy, celebrating the strength of women.
The pop-up show: ‘Strong Women’ was toasted by a number of high-profile guests including Smythson’s former creative director and now consultant, Samantha Cameron (the wife of the British Prime Minister) with Clicquot-filled glasses on what was also the date of World Stationary Day.
The exhibition featured influential women of all ages in a series of intimate black-and-white photographs that Guy has come to know through his work in fashion, music and film.
His inspiration was his close relationship with Daphne Selfe, who has been a model since 1949. Guy also photographed Melanie Griffiths, Tippi Hedren, Savannah Miller, Tilly Wood, Daphne Guinness, Tamsin Egerton, Jade Parfitt, Amy Manson, Lena Gora, Shruti Ganguly, Jan De Villeneuve, Greta Ballamacina, Martina Bjorn, Brix Smith-Start, Elizabeth Von Guttman and Erin Tonkon.
The ‘Strong Women’ exhibition will be open at 40 New Bond Street Boutique in London from the 27th of April through the 2nd of May. It will then move to Smythson’s New York store (667 Madison Avenue) from the 4th to the 8th of May, to coincide with Frieze New York.
